To start, we can certainly throw out any accounts of slaves used for medical experiments. Almost all of those stories didn't even show up until the 1940s. If they were true, surely they would have been mentioned in previous newspapers or other various accounts. It isn't outside the possibility that the townspeople found slaves in poor conditions inside the LaLaurie House.
