The staff, especially the manager, were wonderful and very accommodating. It was very convenient not to have to check in at a front desk, and just be able to go straight to our room. We’re within easy walking distance of the Kimmel Cultural Campus, the Bellevue Hotel, Crystal Tea Room, City Hall, The Lucy, the Academy of Music, the Arts Ballroom, and more. This sprawling split-level suite — our most expansive space, at 1,000 square feet — features two bedrooms, a large living room (perfect for gatherings and celebrations!), two full bathrooms and a kitchenette. Named for Dr. Alice Norton, a remarkable Guild member who organized the Guild’s musical and theatrical productions, the suite occupies the space that was once the club’s auditorium. Today, a cool, elevated rock ‘n’ roll vibe — all graphic textiles, luxe leathers, brass bling, and other whimsical details — nods to the lively spirit, fun and showmanship Alice brought to the Guild.
A Timeline of Women in Power
If you want to fully immerse yourself in Philadelphia history, book a room at The Morris House Hotel. The interiors of the boutique hotel are rather endearing, if just a touch outdated, but past guests note everything is comfortable and welcoming. The property is billed as an “invisible service boutique hotel,” meaning there’s a sense of anonymity to your stay. That doesn’t mean there isn’t any thought put into the guest experience, though — quite the opposite, in fact.

The building has a fascinating history and has many original features intact, giving it a great authentic feel. The location, 5 blocks south of Rittenhouse Square, was ideal. Once I parked the car, I met up with my friends, and we walked everywhere. My room was spacious, and the bathroom was big and beautifully tiled with high-quality faucets and a shower. The amenities, soaps, and lotions, were also high-qualityThe bed and pillows were very comfortable. Outside of the F&B options within the 118-room hotel, there are several other reasons to book a stay. For starters, its enviable location on picturesque Rittenhouse Square allows guests to easily get to most of the city’s main sights within a short walk — or simply sit on a park bench beneath the trees.

Great location, hotel is drop dead gorgeous, room was beautiful and comfortable, great hotel amenities including sparkling water on tap, free snacks and drinks. Didn't see other hotel guests around so our stay was very quiet. Bathroom was very nice with plenty of towels and nice smelling toiletries. Flexibility, impeccable service and uncomplicated ease are the hallmarks of Guild House—we offer customized plans and services for every couple, with as little or as much involvement as you’d like. Upon request, we’re happy to help facilitate catering and bartending services, as well as offering an on-site staff for wedding and party activities, cleaning, accepting deliveries and other special needs. I’ve never stayed in the rooms themselves, but my experience as a club member involved daily visits to the riverside building, where I would sit with my laptop or hop on the Peloton Tread.

The team at ROHE Creative is responsible for the modern yet romantic design of each suite at the Guild House Hotel that reflects notable members of the New Century Guild. We have more than 70 million property reviews, and they're all from real, verified guests. Non-members can add the privileges at checkout through our 30 day free trial, cancellable at anytime.
Given the Rittenhouse Square location, you’ll also be steps away from top spots like Parc (known for its brunch), The Dandelion, and Friday Saturday Sunday. Enter, the New Century Guild, which debuted here in Philadelphia in 1882 as one of the first groups in the United States supporting working women. The Guild’s founder, an indomitable woman named Eliza Sproat Turner, was a writer, mother, teacher, abolitionist, suffragist, and feminist with a long history of involvement in progressive causes. Linger a little longer in our Lounge, formerly the Guild’s dining room, where the club’s “noon rest” took place—a time in which members could pop in on their lunch break to relax with friends over soup, tea and coffee. Featuring 4-star accommodation, Guild House Hotel is situated in Philadelphia, 1.3 km from Liberty Bell and 1.6 km from National Liberty Museum.
And yet we proudly remain a piece of history preserved, a symbol of the independence that defined the women who once gathered here. Each room in our hotel pays special homage to the ladies of the Guild. We invite you to explore their stories and to take advantage of every comfort in our Guild House, which we hope will be your own “blessed little oasis” in Philadelphia.
